Say Hello!

Workshops

Make music together, make friends and learn with joy!

Doing something that is not common here can be a way for some to express their own personality. Showing this with a rhythm, full and compact, or with a “Floreo”, with my help, is the aim of the workshop! The rhythms I teach are mixtures of different sounds that anyone can learn.

I am convinced that we can all play rhythms. It is the basis of our life, like our heartbeat and the pace at which we walk.

Workshops for children

Percussion is my passion. I would like to pass it on.

Since 2004 I have been teaching African percussion instruments in Vienna and giving workshops in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, universities, companies, cultural centers, cultural associations, music schools and at the Music University of Vienna. I teach in Austria, Europe and worldwide.

Drum workshop
for children

My workshops are a combination of imagination, fun, rhythm and music. The children play words, which I transform into beats on the drums, bringing characters to life.

My workshops are a combination of fantasy, fun, rhythm, folk tradition and music. I am inspired by the children, who compose new rhythms and forms in the moment.

Drum workshop
for adults

In the workshop we will learn about rhythms from many countries and cultures and how to play music in different styles - from traditional to modern. By playing without notes and instructions you will gain the confidence to improvise with the support of the whole rhythm group and thus learn to let go of conventions and strengthen your own sense of rhythm.

Embark on a musical journey halfway around the world – full of rhythmic elements that you discover, process and absorb.

I am the initiator of Batala Austria

“Batala” is a percussion band that plays samba rgae in Brazilian drums.

I founded Batala Austria in 2009 on the initiative of Giba Gonçalves on the occasion of the Impulse Dance Festival. We are the first Batala band in Austria, it is based in Vienna and currently has about 50 members. We rehearse one to three times a week and have performances in Vienna and all over the world.

Batala Austria is part ofBatala Mundo with 47 bands active in four continents and 22 countries. Over 2,000 drummers are active with Batala worldwide.

About Me

I was born in Rome in 1976. My dad dances the tarantella, sings ‘O sole mio’ in Sicilian, writes poems and works in the hospital. My mom reads a lot and writes books herself. Like my dad, she mostly listens to classical music.

I play in several music groups with different styles - Latin, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, World Music, Italian Pop, Folk and Afro. That's why I use different instruments in each band.

I play live percussion as a show act in various clubs with DJs and accompany different styles of music. Depending on your wishes, I perform mobile in the venue or with a stationary percussion set.
